The showdown with the prophets of Baal was a high point in Elijah’s ministry. And immediately after it came the crash that often follows success. He had won, but the queen now wanted him dead. He probably wondered if anything had really changed. So, he ran for his life, miles and miles into the wilderness of the southern kingdom. Elijah collapsed, he was discouraged, emotionally spent, and physically exhausted. He told God he couldn’t fight anymore and was ready to die. But God was not finished with him yet. Instead, he let him sleep. God provided for Elijah by allowing Him to sleep and gave him a good meal. Sometimes our spiritual struggles overwhelm us, often just when we think we’ve succeeded. We deal with forces larger than ourselves. But the reminder of God’s provision even of food and rest gives us perspective. God created everything, and He gives us what we need. If you are feeling overwhelmed or exhausted, share your struggles with Him and ask Him to provide rest for you. Two-a-days are designed for you to connect with God and those closest to you. Feel free to modify this plan to fit your and your family’s needs.]]>
