Numbers 13:30-33 I’ll never forget my college orientation the summer before my freshman year at Marshall University. All of my life, I had heard that going to college was what I was supposed to do, so, when it came time, I knew I was going. Everything lined up right to get ready for my first year, and I was looking forward to it. That was until orientation started. I didn’t know anyone, I got a parking ticket on campus, and several other little things that added up to a miserable first afternoon of college. I had went in thinking that since college was what I was supposed to do, that it would be easy. My orientation and first semester of college proved that I would still have to work hard even though I was doing what I thought I was supposed to do. If you’re like me, you’d love for life to be easy. We want the decision to do what we are supposed to do to be the hardest part. We want to decide that we are going to live for God, do what He wants for our life, and live happily ever after. Reality is never that simple. Usually, the tough parts comes after we’ve figured out what we are supposed to do. The road to where God wants us to go is littered with obstacles and setbacks. Because we’ve been programmed to believe things should magically work out after making the right decisions, we are often caught off guard by the tough times and end up confused and ready to quit. When we decide to live the life God has called us to, God expects us to fight and battle for what He has for us. It’s not a cakewalk, but God has promised He will be with us through the thick and thin as long we learn to lean on Him.]]>
