Read Hebrews 2:1-4
Bad habits are hard to break, but good habits are usually forgotten quickly. We can struggle with breaking free from harmful addictions, unhealthy attitudes and actions, and other negative habits. However, when it comes to good habits such as spending daily time with God, taking care of ourselves physically, or other positive attitudes and actions, it takes very little to derail our progress. It just takes one missed alarm, one bad meal, or one big blow up at work to break our good habits and send us into a tail spin back into our bad habits.
Many of us start out with great intentions. We begin Bible reading plans, start Bible studies with our families, and make church a priority, but then we get busy, the alarm doesn’t go off, and the next thing we realize, we haven’t made God a priority in our lives. If you’ve lost some of your spiritual edge, go back to where you lost your edge. If you are struggling with maintaining a daily time with God, start by reading a short devotion each morning when you wake up. If you have trouble waking up for church each week, invite a friend so you’ll be more motivated to wake up when the alarm goes off early Sunday.
Being complacent is dangerous. Make an effort every day to increase your spiritual edge. If there was a time in your life where you felt like you were closer to God than you are today, think about the things you did then and consider recommitting to those things.]]>
