2 Corinthians 3:12 Do you consider yourself a bold person? Being bold means showing an ability to take risks by being confident and courageous. Are you the type that jumps in without hesitation to something new? Or, are you the type of person that even the thought of having to step out and try something new sends you off hyperventilating? I’ve always been amazed by the daredevils of the world. The people who jump into new risks with no apparent hesitation. Their boldness is something I wish I had. Boldness is a trait that characterized the members of the early church. These individuals were constantly put into situations where they literally put their lives on the line and risked everything in order to serve Jesus. They didn’t shy away from the risks that were put in front of them. They made a habit of stepping up and serving God seemingly without hesitation. Unfortunately, the church is no longer marked by boldness in our country. The bold risk taking Christians of the first century have been replaced with people like us who often trade faith in Jesus for a focus on our own comfort. The good news is that the early Christians weren’t more bold than most of us are today because of their personalities or character. They were able to be bold and to take risks because they knew how big God was. They truly trusted God, and that enabled them to step up and do all that God wanted them to do. The bigger view of our God, the more boldly we can live for Him.]]>
