Deuteronomy 28:1-3 My mom and I would often get into arguments when I was a kid over cleaning my room. Apparently shoving everything under my bed or in my closet wasn’t really considered cleaning. She would also get upset when I didn’t have it clean when she thought I should have it clean. Evidently, when I said I would clean my room, she thought I meant right then…I meant I would do it later. It didn’t matter to her that I had every intention of cleaning my room in the future, the fact that I hadn’t done it yet meant I was in trouble. We are a people of good intentions. Nearly all of us mean well. We want to do good things, help people, and serve God. But, our busy schedules, messed up priorities, and fears often distract us from following through on our good intentions. Good intentions don’t carry much weight until we turn them into action. When it comes to doing what God asks us to do, delayed obedience is just like disobedience. Even if we intend on obeying God at some point in the future, if we aren’t doing it right now, we are disobeying Him. It’s simply not enough to have good intentions. Our good intentions must be accompanied by action. Do you often find you mean well, but you don’t often follow through? What’s one area you can step up in today and stop putting off obedience to God?]]>
