Proverbs 29:11 & Proverbs 14:17 When I was a kid, my uncle had a girlfriend who claimed to be a psychic. I didn’t really buy that she had any special powers, so, when she wanted to do a “reading” on me, I only reluctantly agree. She proceeded to spout off some random things that didn’t make much sense. Finally, she said something that kind of rattled me. She told me that she could see that I bottle up my feelings inside. Looking back on it, it probably wasn’t that difficult to tell that the shy kid in the corner didn’t share his feelings very well. I quickly told her she was wrong and ran off. We can try to hide our anger, but it can become obvious to others, even complete strangers, that we are bottling up our anger. I know from experience that bottled up anger can feel like self-control, but our anger will eventually start to boil over. Instead of talking about issues, you bury them deep. You feel like you get over them, but you don’t. Eventually, those things creep back up, and it all blows up together. This causes loads of problems. Instead of just dealing with the issue when it happens, it hangs over your head like a cloud. Do you bottle up your anger? Do you find yourself stewing over things in the past and constantly bringing up things that are done and over? This is a sure sign that you bottle up your anger and in danger of blowing up at the smallest of issues. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
