Romans 12:17-21  Bitterness is defined as a resentment strong enough to justify retaliation; “holding a grudge”; “settling a score”; or a feeling of deep anger and ill-will. Romans 12:21 tells us “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” So many times, we look back on things in our life and hold a grudge…we’re bitter about things that have happened, where we ended up, or how someone or something made us feel. Too often, these feelings can overwhelm us. Don’t allow the evil of bitterness to overcome you, but overcome that bitterness with good things in your life by doing good for the people around you…including those people you are bitter toward. Take a moment today and pray for a person you are bitter toward. Ask God to help you forgive this person, and genuinely pray that God will be with the person and will bless their life. It may not be an easy thing to do, and it is hard to pray for someone who has caused you pain. But, many times, the grudge often causes you more pain than the offence did in the first place.]]>
