Proverbs 14:12 Several years ago, there were several popular beer commercials which featured the “bitter beer face.” While we aren’t at all promoting alcohol or a beer company, the commercials were pretty funny. If you haven’t seen them, basically certain beverages would be so bitter that it would cause your face to pucker up and look so awful that it would look like you were having an allergic reaction. In the case of the commercial, the bitter taste of the drink caused people to look absolutely ridiculous. This is also how bitterness in your life makes you look. When we allow bitterness to take hold in our life, it causes us to become critical, negative, jealous, and unforgiving. Whatever it is that has a hold of your heart is what shines through when you’re around other people. If you allow bitterness to grow inside of you, it will grow and begin to show through in every aspect of your life. It will often make you look as ridiculous as having the “bitter beer face” because of the way you end up acting and treating other people. Don’t get a bitter face, ask God to help you forgive and move on from the situations and people that cause you to be bitter.]]>
