BREAKOUT | Crosstraining 8.9.12

Read Romans 5:6-11 “God helps those who help themselves.” You’ve heard this phrase before, and you’ve probably even said it. Problem is, it’s not in the Bible. In fact, it couldn’t be more wrong. Truth is, God makes a habit out of helping the helpless. The gospel is based on the fact that we are sinners who have no hope outside of God giving us the ultimate help of sending His Son to die on the cross for our sin. While God WILL help the helpless, he refuses to help people who refuse to help themselves. He doesn’t save anyone who doesn’t want to be saved. He doesn’t heal anyone who doesn’t want to be healed. If you want to see a breakthrough in your life and feel helpless, the good news is that God’s speciality is helping people in your situation. However, you do actually have to do SOMETHING.
