Read James 5:16
We’ve all felt that sting of betrayal. We’ve all been hurt by someone we’ve cared about. We’ve all have felt the sting when someone we thought we could trust turns out to be someone we shouldn’t have confided in. While we all have been in those situations, we’ve all also been the offender. We’ve been the one to betray others. We’ve been the ones who have hurt those we care about. We have broken trust with those who have confided in us.
If so many people need forgiveness in the world, there have to be at least some people do the offending. We’ve all made people feel how we’ve felt when someone has betrayed us. We have thought about how we wish someone would have made things right when they’ve hurt us, but we don’t think about that when we’ve hurt someone else.
When we’ve messed up, we need to make things right the way that we wish someone would have tried to make things right with us. How do you wish someone would have asked for forgiveness? How do you wish someone would have tried to fix things? Instead of doing the same things that others have done to us, we need to break the cycle and show God’s love in the way we handle those situations.
