Read Genesis 40:4-8
A few years ago, some friends and I were going to throw a surprise party for someone after their birthday. Their big day came and went and they seemed a little upset that no one made much of a big deal about their birthday. The individual pouted and eventually caused a little bit of a ridiculous scene over not having much excitement on their birthday. What they didn’t realize, though, is that even in the midst of being let down, there were plans for something even better!
When we are going through disappointing seasons in our life, it’s easy to get caught up in the negativity. Things aren’t happening the way we want them to, and we aren’t getting our way. We can get so consumed on what isn’t that we completely lose sight of what could be. God often provides opportunities to do or be a part of amazing thing in the middle of our toughest struggles, but we are often too dejected to realize those opportunities when they come along.
How do you react when you are going through disappointing times? Do you remain positive and look for the hidden opportunities behind the process, or do you get so caught up in the negative that you completely miss what God is wanting to do in your life?
