Read Genesis 39:30-23

Have you ever had a moment that caused you to stop and think about “what’s truly important in life”? It could be a car accident, a loved one getting sick or passing, or even not being able to find a child for several minutes. We’ve all been through times that have caused us to take a step back and reevaluate what we’re doing and why. Sometimes we make significant changes in our life and sometimes we don’t, but it causes us, even if it’s just for a little bit, to think about what’s truly important.

God often uses the process in our life to redefine our goals. Many of us have been living one way for so long that we forget why we do what we do. Sometimes God doesn’t give us exactly what we want when we want it because He wants us to go through something that will make us step back and see the important stuff in life.

What have your goals been in your life? Is your time and focus spent on the important things in life, or have you been focusing on things that don’t matter a whole lot? If it seems like you’re going through difficult times, maybe God wants you to step back and look at what really matters in your life.
