Luke 2:4-7 & Matthew 1:21 “Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.” We’ve all heard the start of the poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” hundreds of times in our lives. It reminds me of the excitement I had as a young child on Christmas Eve. I was so excited for Santa to come because I knew he was going to bring me a sack full of toys to unwrap the next morning. While we all loved Santa as a kid because he could bring us things we wanted, God sees OUR NEED in life. Sometimes we can get upset at God because we don’t get everything we want, but God isn’t some holy Santa, He’s our Heavenly Father who loves us, watches over us, and makes sure we have everything we need. Over 2,000 years ago, God knew that, because of our sin, we needed a Savior, so he sent His Son to be born of a virgin in a stable, live a humble life, and to be crucified to save us from our sins. God doesn’t always give us everything we want, but He always gives us exactly what we need. This Christmas as you give and receive gifts, take time to remember the ultimate gift that God has given us in sending His son to earth to be our Savior.]]>
