Read Matthew 25:14-30
In many little leagues today, there are never winners or losers in the games. The focus is all about the children having fun. Everyone gets a trophy for participation, no matter how good or bad they performed. To be successful is to be there. The only failure is not showing up.
We do things like this because we place so much stock on whether or not we, or our kids, are a success or failure, and we want to shield them from the failure. We constantly focus on how we perform, or what we have, and let that impact our emotions and our relationships.
If we focus on how good we are, what we have, or what we’ve done, we’ve completely missed the point when it comes to living a life that really counts. The secret to becoming all that God wants us to be is to stop looking at our possessions, accomplishments, or reputation for our identity and focus on Christ. He supplies us with what we truly need even if we are in want or hungry. God has given you exactly enough to do what He has called you to do.
