Deuteronomy 5:8-9 Has anyone ever went out of their way to do something really helpful for you? As I think back upon my life, I can pinpoint literally dozens of times when someone put me above themselves, and it greatly impacted me. When people sacrifice in that way, we often take notice because it isn’t common in our society. Sure, we will help people when we can, but we will rarely go out of our way to put someone else above ourselves. When people truly serve others, they make others a priority in their life. Even more than that, they make God a priority in their life. The are willing to put others ahead of themselves because God is the top priority of their life. It’s not that when you are seeking to serve God you are automatically unselfish, it’s just that you begin to see the need to step up and do for others what God would want us to do for them.
