Read 1 John 4:19-21 Have you ever been somewhere a thousand times and suddenly noticed something new hanging on the wall? You ask about it only to find out that it had been hanging there the entire time? It’s always been there, but you never noticed it because you were focused on so many other things. John, a close friend of Jesus and one of His twelve disciples, wrote 1 John several decades after Jesus left the earth. John knew a thing or two about God’s love because he had spent three years hanging out with Jesus. John tells his readers that we can love because God first loved us. Then, he says that, if anyone claims to love God, but does not love others, they are a liar who hasn’t seen God. According to John, God gave us the command that anyone who loves God should also love others. So often during the holiday season, we get focused on so many things that we completely miss out on other things that are more important. Not only that, getting so focused on certain things in life will cause us to completely miss what God wants to show us, teach us, or do in our lives. During this holiday season, don’t get so caught up with all of the holiday frenzy that you completely miss out on what God truly wants you to see. Take time this Christmas to focus on what’s truly important and to  look out for what God wants to show you. Reflect Instead of seeing the signs and turning toward God, Herod completely missed the obvious signs God pointed to in his life during the Christmas story. What do you think causes us to miss the obvious ways that God is working in our lives to show us Himself? Pray Ask God to help you slow down during the holiday season to focus on the things that are truly important. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
