Psalm 109:22-26 Have you ever carried something that didn’t seem very heavy at first, but, the longer you are carrying it, the heavier it feels? This often happens to me when I am taking groceries inside our house. I hate to bring the grocery bags inside from the car, so I try to do it in as few trips as possible. I load up on the plastic bags. It doesn’t seem bad before, but, by the time I reach our kitchen, it feels like the bags of groceries are going to slice through my fingers. The longer I have to hold them, the tougher it gets. We all have a past. Some of us have faced heavier circumstances than others, but we have all dealt with tough circumstances. The problem is that most of us don’t realize the baggage we carry from our past. We don’t think that thing that happened way back when affects us at all, but it often does. Maybe it was something that seemed inconsequential or even seemed like no big deal to everyone else. It could have even been something big you struggled through, but you believed you got past it. Whatever it was, it wasn’t anything you couldn’t handle. But, as time moves on, the weight of your past wears on you. Our past affects who we are today. We need to acknowledge that what we’ve been through affects who we are, so God can help you deal with it. We all have a heart that’s wounded, but we can trust God with our hearts.]]>
