Ecclesiastes 5:10 As a grown man, I’m not the toughest guy in the world. If I’m honest, I still get a little startled anytime I hear a dog outside barking because it may be someone lurking around the neighborhood. As a kid, I was even more chicken. When everyone else in the house was in bed, I would freak out thinking someone was trying to break into our home. I would resort to setting up Macaulay Culkin style DIY boobytraps like in Home Alone around our doors and windows. I thought my ridiculous attempts would keep me safe and secure inside my house. In reality, though, they would have barely slowed down an intruder. As ridiculous as my feeble attempts as security seem now, I’ve realized I do the same thing in my life today. I look for security in possessions, finances, power, and other things I can attain or achieve. When we look towards these things for those feelings of safety and security in our life, they can provide temporary happiness and feelings of safety. However, our one and only true source of security is God. When we turn to God, He can provide security that will last even beyond life on earth. Even when we feel like we have things in control, we are always one accident, one bad decision, or one tragedy away from everything being turned upside down. God is powerful enough to take on anything comes our way. He’s the only source of true security. Where have you been placing your security lately?  How can you adjust your priorities to make Christ and the security he provides your ultimate goal?]]>
