Proverbs 16:18 Everyone loves a good underdog. Whether it’s the NCAA basketball tournament with cinderella stories, overmatched teams battling in football, or even small local mom and pop stores battling corporate giants, we typically root for the mighty to fall and the small to overcome. It seems like there is always examples of the little guy beating out the favorite. It’s usually not that the underdog is better equipped, it’s usually that those on top allow pride to get in the way and they overlook their competition. The Bible talks about how pride goes before destruction. Like a heavy favorite leading up to a big game, pride can cause us to become complacent, arrogant, and overlook the struggles we will face to get where we want to go. The quickest way to unravel any success you have had in the past is by becoming prideful about it. When things are going well for us, it’s easy to begin to feel invincible…like nothing can’t touch us. But, it’s ultimately God who causes us to experience success or failure, and we must learn to trust Him and not our own abilities. Don’t allow pride and thinking to highly of yourself cause you to lose focus and fall short of what God has in store for you. ]]>
