2 Timothy 3:1-5 Whoever holds the television remote in a household has a lot of power.  The person holding the remote has the power to determine what the entire family watches, the volume at which the show or movie is played, and how long the family can watch the television in general.  A remote has the power to rewind shows or fast forward through commercials. While a television remote control may be one of the best inventions of the past hundred years, this amount of control isn’t healthy when applies to other areas of our lives. Many of us have people in our lives who try to control us. They try to manipulate the things we say and do.These people are intimidating, fear-inducing, and manipulative.  You may also see instances where the controlling individual is abusive–verbally, emotionally, or physically.  Sometimes these people can drop even the slightest hints that make you feel guilty.  Is there someone in your life that you would characterize as controlling? What steps can you take to eliminate this controlling figure in your life?  Do you need to seek out counseling?  Have you considered walking away from the relationship or taking a break?]]>
