Matthew 5:29-30 It’s always fascinated me how people can gather incredible strength to do the seemingly impossible when facing life or death situations. I’ve heard of people who managed to survive for weeks lost in the wilderness or mothers who summon super human strength to move a car when their child is in trouble. One of the craziest stories I’ve heard, though, is about the rock climber who found himself in the middle of a rockslide that trapped his arm beneath an 800 pound boulder. At that point, the climber was faced with a life-altering decision.  He could lay there with his arm pinned beneath the rock and face certain death, or he could do the unthinkable and cut off his arm to save his life.  The climber chose to cut off his arm and, in doing so, saved his own life. The same is true in our relationships with others.  There comes a time when we need to “cut off” a poor relationship or cut certain people out of our lives.  If we avoid cutting off these relationships, we can bring dishonor to God, put ourselves in even more troubling situations, or worse do harm to ourselves physically or emotionally.  Are there relationships in your life that you need to eliminate or take a break from today?  How will walking away from these relationships improve your walk with God?]]>
