Hebrews 12:5-11 I’ll never forget being terrified as a kid as I waited to hear from my parents what my punishment would be after doing something stupid. I just knew that my parents were angry, and I was just expecting the hammer to drop. As I got a little older, I began to understand that my parents didn’t (always) want to punish me any more than I wanted to be punished.  However, they know that it was the best thing for them to do for me.  They showed me love by correcting me when I was wrong. The same is true with God.  He doesn’t discipline us in anger.  He disciplines us to correct and show his love for us.  The absolute worst punishment God could give us is ignoring us and leaving us alone without Him.
