James 3:3-12 Do you remember the phrases “I’m rubber, you’re glue, whatever you say, bounces off me and sticks to you.”or “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”  We used these phrases because we wanted people to believe that what they said didn’t affect us. No matter how many times we repeat these mantras, though, words can hurt…sometimes a lot more than any punch or kick could. If we’re all being honest, we’ve had plenty of people use words that have hurt us–and perhaps still do hurt us to this day.  We may not think that our words matter, but words really have a major impact on the lives of others. Our words can intimidate, threaten, destroy, or tear down others.  On the flip side, words also have the power to encourage, uplift, and completely brighten someone’s day.  Before you speak out, make an effort to learn as much as possible about the situation. Try to say one encouraging thing to someone today.  You’ll be surprised what kind of impact your words can have. READ THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT Today’s Reading: Acts 2]]>
