Luke 9:59-62 I’ve often found that the more I complain about something, the better the chance that I’m in the wrong. I remember griping about so many of my professors in college. It was their fault my grades weren’t quite what I wanted them to be. It was their fault I was having trouble understanding certain things in the class. If I could pin something on one of my professors, chances are I would do it. After a while, though, I realized that my struggles had more to do with my study habits and work ethic than the the people who were teaching the classes. When we make excuses for why things aren’t going the way we would like them to in our life, we are short circuiting what God is doing in our life. Not only are we not growing because we make excuses, but we are also not learning the things God is trying to teach us. When we make excuses, we aren’t focusing on our issue and our response to it. We are shifting the blame to something or someone else other than us. Nothing good ever comes from our excuses. Whatever you struggle with, you will never get better as long as you allow your excuses to fester. God has more for us than what we could ever imagine. Don’t miss out because you’re more focused on shifting responsibility than growing and learning from God in the midst of your situation. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
