1 John 4:7-12 Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life, has sold over 50 million copies since it was first published in 2002. The book was so successful because each and every one of us wants to have some purpose to our live. We want to be significant in some way. There is nothing wrong with wanting to have a purpose for your life or wanting to be significant. In fact, the idea that in Christ we can be better and do more great things than we ever thought possible is a key theme throughout the Bible. The problem creeps up, however, in what we trust in order to feel significant. We trust things to make us significant because we don’t know who we are in Christ. You are significant because God says you’re significant. He sent His Son to die on the cross for you. He created you for a purpose. He calls you to be a part of a movement in this world (His Church) that is much bigger than you. Find your significance in the fact that God loves you and Jesus died for you instead of trying to find it in “things.” What things have you tried to get your significance from? Money, possessions, a career, a relationship, power, education, notoriety? Pray and ask God to help you find your significance in Him.]]>
