It had been generations since the people of Israel and Judah had worshipped God. The temple had fallen, and there were altars to pagan gods in the temple. Eighteen years into King Josiah’s reign, the temple was being renovated and a copy of the Bible was found. The high priest gave the scroll to a scribe who read it and gave it to the young king who was only twenty six years old. When King Josiah read God’s word, he tore his clothes in sorrow for what had been lost for generations. Josiah began to take steps to restore his people to worshipping the true God. There is always hope for God to move even in the darkest of situations. Spend time praying for yourself if your relationship with God needs to be restored. Also, pick at least one person to pray for today that they would turn their heart back toward God.
