4 x 6 Plan | Read: Matthew 7:15-29 & Romans 5:1-11
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
Have you ever encountered people who claim to have all the answers and offer quick solutions to life’s problems? In today’s reading, Jesus warns us about such false prophets who disguise themselves as “sheep” but are actually “wolves” in sheep’s clothing. These people are not interested in truly helping us, but rather in gaining power and control over us.
Jesus reminds us that the true way to live a fulfilled and abundant life is to build our lives on a strong foundation, which is His teachings. It’s not enough to just hear His words, we must also put them into practice. By doing so, we become like a wise person who builds their house on a rock, rather than a foolish person who builds their house on sand. When we build our lives on the solid foundation of Jesus’ teachings, we are better equipped to withstand life’s storms and challenges.
So let us not be deceived by false prophets who offer us quick fixes and easy answers. Instead, let us turn to Jesus and build our lives on His teachings. As we do so, we will experience the peace, joy, and fulfillment that can only come from Him.
The “Great” News of the Gospel | Romans 5:1-11
Romans 5:1-11 declares the great news of the gospel by highlighting the wonderful benefits we receive through faith in Christ. Paul reminds us that because we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God. No longer do we have to live in fear of punishment or separation from Him. Instead, we can have confidence in His love and grace toward us. Moreover, Paul tells us that through Christ, we have access to the grace of God, which means we can have hope in the midst of our trials and difficulties. We can be assured that God will help us and work all things together for our good.
Paul also speaks of the incredible love of God. He reminds us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This means that God loved us before we even knew Him or loved Him. He loved us despite our flaws, our failures, and our rebellion against Him. Through faith in Christ, we can be reconciled to God and experience the fullness of His love. We can live with the assurance that nothing can separate us from His love, and that in Christ, we are made righteous and beloved children of God. Truly, the gospel is great news because it reveals the depths of God’s love and grace towards us, and offers us the opportunity to be reconciled to Him and experience eternal life.
