Read Proverbs 32:8-10
A few years into college, I decided that I needed a new computer. I picked out a computer that I wanted, and I began to save up for it. I was so excited to go get my new computer when I had the money that I quickly went to buy it as soon as I could without looking into what I was buying much more. Because of the price, I found out that the computer didn’t have some features that I really needed, so I had to save up and sink even more money into the new computer to get it to work how I wanted it to work. Over time, the computer cost me more money, and certainly more headache, than I would have spent buying the computer I truly needed the first time. Without stepping back and paying attention, we can often pay a much higher price in our lives than we need to.
There are certain things you do right now that will cost you so much in your life. Maybe for you, it’s health related and you’ll miss walking your daughter down the aisle or miss out on knowing your grandkids. Maybe it’s some addiction that you feel in control of now, but will cost you everything now. It could even be your financial habits. For some of us, it’s even our negative attitudes, jealousy, and anger that will cost us. Whatever it is for you, if you don’t stop it, you will never truly know what it will cost you.
It’s important that you stop whatever it is that is you know you need to stop now, because you don’t really know what you are missing out on. When you let things that aren’t really matter in the grand scheme of things take over your life and keep you from the life God wants you to have, you’re robbing yourself of the life God has for you. If you continue down that path, you may never get to experience it. So, what things do you need to stop today in order to be sure you don’t miss out on what God wants for you?]]>
