Read Hebrews 12:1-2
When I run, I love using my phone to listen to music and to use a GPS app to track about how much I’ve ran. I like to keep the phone in my pocket while I run because I’m not cool enough to wear one on my arm. I am particular about which shorts or pants I wear when I run because I can’t stand how the phone feels if it is bouncing in my pocket. It distracts me and keeps me from running at the pace I would like to. This is a similar reason to why many runners wear running outfits with shorts that are entirely too short and why historical olympic runners ran naked. They don’t want anything to get in their way from performing at the best of their abilities.
This should be the same mindset we have when it comes to our own lives. There are things that we do that will hinder us from living the lives we and God wants for us. It could be sin, but it can be anything that hinders our relationship with Christ or keeps us from living our lives God’s way.
If you haven’t already this week, take a hard look at the way you live your life. What are the things that trip you up and keep you or will keep you from the life you want for yourself, and, more importantly, the life God wants for you. What do you need to throw off and get rid of? What do you need to stop?
