Read Ruth 1:15-16

When I was in High School, I loved playing sports, but I hated having to practice for those sports. I especially hated sprints during football practice. I would often run just fast enough to get by. I wouldn’t run slow enough to get called out for dogging it, but I wouldn’t run all out like I was supposed to either. After a while, I began to realize that other guys who I used to be faster than began to catch up with me even when I was running full speed. Even though I had gotten by okay with not running as hard as I could during sprints, it wasn’t best for me because I didn’t get out of it what I needed to.

What’s okay in our life isn’t always best. Things that are okay are often our biggest enemies. When we settle for okay, we are settling for less than the best. We allow things to get in between us and the things that are MOST IMPORTANT – our relationship with God, being there for our family, or even living out God’s purpose for our life.

What’s an area in your life that you have settled for just okay instead of committing to what’s best?  Turn that area over to God this week and make a small step to turn your okay into your best.]]>
