Read Philippians 2:5-11
I love to root for the underdog. I think it’s fairly safe to say that we all love to hear of those stories where the unexpected person or team comes out victorious. We enjoy these stories so much that we even gave them the nickname “Cinderella” during the NCAA Basketball Tournament. These teams are great reminders of the importance of perseverance and consistency. These teams are willing to do the small things that end up making a big difference in a key game. Beating the big name teams certainly isn’t an easy feat, but by sticking with a plan during the tough stretches of a game, these seemingly no-name schools end up beating the Goliaths of the sports world.
While the sports world and society are full of underdogs and examples of perseverance, the ultimate picture of perseverance was Jesus Christ. He had every right to stay in heaven as God, but he chose to become a man. It wasn’t easy…he was beaten, bruised, mocked, and put to death. But, Jesus was consistent. He lived a sinless life, even in the darkest moments of history. We can persevere and stick it out through the tough times when it comes to the important things because Jesus stuck it out for us. God wants a relationship with us and wants to see us take our next step.
Today, remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for your life. It certainly wasn’t easy, but Jesus stuck with God’s plan. When you face troubling and trying times, stick through and know that ultimately whatever obstacles get in your way, God’s plan for your life is perfect.]]>
