My wife has a half sheet of red construction paper with black marker writing on it in her nightstand drawer. This is one of her most treasured possessions. It was a card her grandmother had given to her grandfather for their 45th wedding anniversary. It’s a simple, but powerful, love note from a woman who had spent a lifetime with her husband. It read “If I had it to do all over again, I’d still marry you.”
In 45 years, will you look back on the life you are living, the decisions you are making right now, both small and big, and say “If I had it to do all over again, I would”? We all should be asking ourselves these types of questions because the decisions we make day in and day out tell the story of our lives. If we want to live a life without regrets, we need to start by living our life today on the path toward where we want to end up.
All of those big down the road dreams begin with small steps. Make an effort this week to examine your life and choose an area where you would like to see some improvement in 2014. Maybe your first step will be something small like downloading a budgeting app on your phone or making time each night to pray with your spouse. It may seem difficult now, but the pay off down the road can be tremendous for you and your relationships.]]>
