Elijah was a prophet, and he was a man of great faith. He was going to need it. He would suffer in the drought that he prophesied about. He had been faithful in the midst of a nation who was committing idolatry, but he would also be affected by God’s judgement on the land. But, Elijah never complained because he believed in God’s promises. He followed God’s instructions to hid by the Kerith Brook, and there God provided food and water as He had promised. Even when the water dried up, he still didn’t complain. He knew that the Lord who had provided so far would continue to be faithful. We often suffer trials and difficulties because our world is broken because of sin. Even when we are faithful, we can be caught up in the consequences of our world’s brokenness. Even still, God is faithful in his promises and we can continue to trust and hope in Him. Share with God things that bother or confuse you, maybe even things you don’t understand. Ask God to help you understand or accept these things and learn to trust Him in the midst of them.
