Read 2 Timothy 3:10-14

In football, a true game changer applies what they’ve learned in practice when the game starts. Even though practice is usually filled with drills at a slower pace than a true game, the skills gathered in practice are crucial to being successful when the game starts. Those who are truly successful take what they learn in practice and still apply it when the intensity kicks up during a game.

As followers of Jesus, we need to apply what we learn in practice when the game starts. First, we need to develop good practice habits. We need to be attending church on Sunday mornings to learn and serve. Secondly, we need to be spending time reading God’s work and praying throughout the week as we try to hear from God. This is practice. We are learning skills that God wants us to have as we live our lives. We need to take what we learn in these situations and truly apply them in our life.

It’s not enough to just know facts about God or know what God wants you to do without actually doing it. We need to apply what we learn when the intensity of life kicks up.
