Read Ephesians 4:15-16
In school, there was a kid a few years ahead of me who had a tremendous amount of school spirit. He would dress up in team colored clothes and crazy hats to cheer on whatever team’s game he was going to. When it came to pep rally’s, he led the charge. But, even though this guy loved the teams at our school, he was never on any of them. I heard him say once that he didn’t want to have to do all the work it took to be on the team. He never joined a team, so he could never be a part of what was going on. He was forced to cheer from the sideline.
In God’s eyes, the church is the most important thing in the world. He has chose to use us, His church, to be the light of His love to a lost and dying world. He loves His church, and He wants us to step and be the church and people that he has called us to be.
Many of us, though, want to be used by God without serving His church. We don’t get involved in volunteering and serving, connecting with others at the church, or supporting it’s ministries in any way. This doesn’t fly in God’s eyes. He chose to use His church to do great things, and, if we want God to do great things through our life, we need to be willing to serve His house, His church.
How can you serve in your church? How can you volunteer?
