Read Colossians 3:23-24
If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent alot of time worrying about the big things in life without worrying too much about the little things in life. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that, many times, the small things that I view as insignificant are often the most important things. I’ve learned that pennies add up to dollars and great moments add up to a great life. Many times, we get so focused on what we think is important, we ignore the things that are the most important in life.
This is often what happens when it comes to helping out. We are willing to band together and do things that we think are big and important, but we often don’t do much when it comes to helping out in a way that we view as small and insignificant. God declares adamantly throughout scripture that He cares more about our heart and our faithfulness as we serve than He does on the size of the splash you make with your service. He is more impressed with the widow who drops a penny into the offering plate because it is all that she has than He is with the rich man who drops in thousands of dollars.
Don’t get so caught up in thinking that some areas of serving are smaller or more insignificant than others. God wants us to be faithful and serve no matter how big or small. In fact, God often likes to use the things we typically overlook to make the greatest impact in people’s lives.
