Read Micah 6:6-8
From the very beginning, we’ve been wired to try to find purpose in our surroundings. Even in childhood, we try to answer the question, “Why?” My sister was the master at this. When we were little and someone would tell her something, she would ask why. They’d tell her why, and she would respond with another why. This would continue until the person said BECAUSE and ran away from her incessant question asking. Even though it can be annoying, this pursuit of “why” is healthy for a child, and it continues throughout our life as we continue to try to find purpose in our life.
Have you ever thought about what your purpose is for living? Whether or not you have, you can be sure that God does have a purpose for you. This purpose can seem elusive to understand at times, but a good first step in figuring out why you’re here and what God wants to do with your life is to ask yourself what bothers you. Not what annoys you like someone smacking their lips while they are eating or driving 45 mph on the highway, but what TRULY bothers you. Those things that will matter 100 years from now. What injustices make your blood boil or your heart sink? The stuff that God care about, too. Those things you truly care about are a good place to start in uncovering God’s purpose for your life.
What truly bothers you?]]>
