Read Deuteronomy 31:5-8

When I clean, I’ve always liked to sweep things under the rug. I don’t like to really clean and organize, I like to stuff things under the bed or in the closet. I even like to sweep dirt out the door instead of having to use the dust pan because it’s easier. I’ve noticed that when you truly clean, you have to get things a little messy. It’s more work, but the results are much better.

Many of us have a wrong idea of what it means to serve God. We think that it won’t cost us much. We can make serving God a part of our life like an extracurricular activity. We believe that life should be flowery and fun as long as we are doing what we are supposed to do.

But reality is much different. Jesus chose to get messy. He got involved in people’s lives and came to earth and became like one of us. If that’s how Jesus lived, why do we think it would be any different for us? Are you willing to take the risk to step out and serve God? It won’t just cost you something, like Jesus, it will cost you everything. It won’t always be perfect, and it’ll always be risky. But, if you’re willing to get a little messy by stepping out and serving God, the results will be much better.
