Read Matthew 9:35-38
One thing that has always cracked me up about football is all the overweight men in the stands who yell at players for not playing well enough. I’ve even been one of these guys. There’s 22 individuals on the field giving their all, but I’m sitting on the sideline eating a hot dog and critiquing their every move.
Unfortunately, this trend of people sitting on the sideline critiquing those who are actually in the game has spread far beyond spectator sports. It also describes the church pretty well. It’s been said that 10% of people in a church do 90% of the work. There’s a small group of people who give their all in serving who do the majority of the work while the majority of the people sit by enjoying the game and critiquing the work.
God didn’t design you to sit on the sidelines. He created you to be in the game. Think for a moment about all the things God has done through C3 with 10% of the people doing 90% of the work. Now imagine what God could do in and through our church if 90% of the people were giving it their all and serving! Are you ready to stop just enjoying the game and critiquing everyone else’s play? Are you ready to get in the game yourself?
