Read Galatians 6:7-10

I began running a few months ago to get back into shape. I started out by running for 10-15 minutes at a time. I ran slow, but I was still gasping for air and felt like my legs were about to fall off. Days went by and then a few weeks, and I didn’t see much of any result. I would still run slow and feel like someone had a plastic bag over my head. Then, after a month or so a funny thing happened. Running began to get a little easier. I could run a little longer and pick up the pace a little bit. The payoff for my hard work eventually came. It just didn’t come as quickly as I would have liked it to have come.

With God, many times the payoff for what we do isn’t immediate. He wants to see us faithful in the everyday normal times, over and over again, before we get to reap the rewards for the work we’ve been doing. While we want to see the results now, God wants to see us continue to work over the long haul.

One great thing about God is that He will, eventually, cause you to reap what you sew, but sometimes it takes awhile to see it become reality. It may be days, weeks, months, or even years before you realize the full reward of being faithful over the long haul, but God promises that it will come.
