The King Ahab gathered four hundred prophets together on Mount Carmel and told them to do whatever it took to make the gods bring rain again. It was amazing that Elijah even showed his face there. It was amazing that he would challenge four hundred prophets to a showdown to see whose god would bring down fire to consume the sacrifices they laid out. Elijah took it a step farther by dousing his sacrifice with bucket after bucket of water during the drought. Even greater than fire from heaven was the people who turned their heart to God after being against Him. These people had lived in rebellion for years, but God used fire from heaven to draw these people back to Him. If you’ve been separated from God in your life, spend time asking for forgiveness for turning away from Him. Ask Him to help you turn your heart back to Him in those things.
