John 3:30-31 I have a bad habit of making just about everything about me. If my wife has had a bad day at work and is quiet, I think she is mad at me. Whenever someone makes a decision, I immediately think about how it will affect me. When there’s work to be done, I automatically think about what my responsibility will be. When a group picture is taken, I always find myself first to make sure I’m not making some stupid face. Even in situations I should have nothing to do with, I make it about me. We do this same thing in many areas of our life including our spiritual lives. When we face a situation where God is asking us to step up and do something for Him, we immediately wonder whether or not we are capable of pulling it off. We wonder how we will measure up. We worry about what the fallout will be when we fail because we often believe there’s a good chance we will. In short, when God asks us to step up, we focus on whether or not we are good enough to succeed. However, when God asks us to do something, He doesn’t ask us to do it in our own power or only with our own abilities. When God calls us to something, He also promises that He’s right there with us. Our lives are much less about us than we think. Our lives aren’t about our strengths or weaknesses. Our lives are about how powerful God can be when He works through us. God gets glory when He can show His strength through our weaknesses. God wants us to do big things, but He doesn’t expect us to do it alone. We don’t have to feel inadequate because God is the one working through our life. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
