Genesis 4:1-12 Life can get hectic sometimes. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that everyone is busy in their life. There have been seasons of my life that were less chaotic at times, but things always seem to get back to crazy eventually. No matter where you are in your life, there’s no doubt that you experience stress. Whether it’s because of your crazy schedule, your bank account that’s drained, relationship struggles, or bad news that keeps popping up, we all experience times of intense stress. Besides the health dangers of allowing stress to run rampant in your life, our hectic and stressful lives also has a tendency to push us away from God. When life gets busy, we stop spending time with God, skip church here and there, and generally ignore what God is trying to do and teach us in our lives. God didn’t want for Cain to turn to Him, God went to Cain to warn Him of where his attitude was going to lead him. Cain ignored God, and it paid for it dearly. When life begins to get tough, God wants to walk us through our tough times. He wants to help us learn and grow. He wants to prepare us for the future and to help others. If we constantly push God away when things get crazy, we will never become the people God wants us to be. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
Reflect: Do you push God away when things get hectic and stressful in your life? If so, why do you think you react that way? Pray: As you begin to pray today, talk to God about the times you have pushed Him away. Ask Him to help you turn toward Him when your life gets chaotic.
