Jeremiah 7:22-24 One of my favorite movies is the football movie, Varsity Blues. If you’re going to watch it, you should probably watch it on cable, so it’s edited, though. In the movie, a High School team turns on their legendary jerk coach. Before the mutiny, the team was in trouble and about to lose. But, then, the players take control, win the game, and everyone (except the coach) lives happily ever after. We’ve all had those times where we look at someone who has authority over us, whether a coach, boss, parent, teacher, politician, or other leader, and just knew that we could do things much better and easier if we had complete control. In fact, we may have even been tempted to ignore those people and do our own thing despite what they said. Whether we realize it or not, we do this with God as well. We know what God wants for us. We know how He wants us to live, but we ignored Him and do our own thing anyway. We completely leave God out of the picture. The problem is that life isn’t a movie, our Heavenly Father isn’t a jerk, and, when we leave God out of our life, we are only hurting ourselves. God knows us. God cares for us. God wants what is best for us. We would do well to stop replacing God’s plans with our plans? // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
