Matthew 5:1-11 Ever since I’ve started driving as a teenager, I’ve always hated to stop and get gas. I’ve typically had vehicles that haven’t been the best with fuel mileage, so I would have to fill up pretty frequently. I’m impatient, so I always want to get to where I’m going as quickly as possible. Stopping at a gas station to get gas always just felt like an inconvenience. It kept me from getting to where I was going. When the fuel light pops on (which my grandpa has long yelled at me for letting my gas tank get that low), i get frustrated because it gets in the way of my plans. But, in the end, I would never get to where I need to go without that minor inconvenience. Life is full of inconveniences that are much more important than getting gas. When we begin to follow Jesus and start to buy into what God has said through His word, God will begin to ask us to take small but inconvenient steps. He’ll ask us to step up and do things that we would never choose to do on our own. He’ll ask us to help out and serve in ways that are uncomfortable. He’ll push us a little past our comfort zone. God doesn’t expect us to make giant life changing decisions at the beginning of our journey in following Jesus. However, when you buy into what God is doing in your life and in the world, He’ll ask you to do things that are inconvenient and stretch you. Are you ready to take that next step even if it’s a little bit out of your comfort zone? // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
