Matthew 6:19-21 When I was in Junior High, Middle School football and basketball were the most important things in the world to me. When I went on to High School, Middle School sports seemed dumb compared to how big of a deal High School sports were. Now that I am out of school, I’ll occasionally catch a High School game here or there, but, if I’m being honest, I don’t care a whole lot about it one way or the other. Did you notice a pattern? In even more than sports, when I’m involved with something, I’m interested in it. Once I’m no longer invested in something, when I don’t have anything on the line, I no longer care as much about it. This goes for every aspect of my life. If I’ve invested my time or energy into something, I care about it. If I don’t, then I’m just not that interested. God has allowed us to be a part of the most powerful organization in the history of the planet – his Church. Only the church has the capability – because of God’s power working through it – to make a real lasting impact in people’s lives. God gives us the opportunity to to be involved with that. Unfortunately, just like with sports growing up for me, when I’m not invested, I don’t really care. God created His Church to be a place where everyone takes part and is invested. It’s not a place where 20% of the people should be doing 80% of the work or providing 80% of the resources. It should be a place where everyone does their part and invests their time and resources to see God do for others what He’s done for all of us. God has given the responsibility to share His love with the world to His church. He has given that responsibility to you and me. It’s up to us to do our part and invest in the only organization on the planet that can truly share hope with our world. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
