Psalm 18:30 When I was in school, I wanted to get good grades, but I didn’t want to do a lot of hard work to get them. I would often put in just enough effort to get by. I rarely truly did my very best work. This was never more true than when I would do papers for school. I hated to write papers, and I would often wait for the last minute to do them. I would spend a fraction of time on them, and, when I got what I felt like would be a passing grade, I would stop and say “good enough.” I didn’t care much about the paper being good, I just wanted it to be good enough. I often do the same thing with my life. I get content with good enough. In God’s eyes, though, there’s no such thing as good enough. God demands perfection. But, the good news is that God accepts us wherever we are. Just because we don’t measure up to God’s standards doesn’t mean He doesn’t still love us, care about us, and makes a way for us. The next time you feel like you don’t measure up, remember that God accepts you wherever you are. However, the next time you feel like you’re good enough that God’s definition of good is perfection. Don’t allow that to cause you to look down at others judgmentally.]]>
