1 John 4:10 Before starting my freshman year of college, I had to go to an orientation at Marshall University. I was pretty nervous, and the experience was a little overwhelming for me. I got really upset, though, when I went to my car and discovered I had gotten a parking ticket even though I had displayed the temporary parking permit the university sent me in the mail. Frustrated by the ticket and general and freaking out a little because I didn’t have a ton of money laying around, I went back into the orientation and asked where to pay the ticket. The guy must have seen I was frustrated because he took the ticket from me and said he would take care of it. To this day, I wish I knew who the guys was to thank him because it was such a relief in the moment for me. The Bible talks about how we are all sinners. It also says that the penalty for sin is death. Because of our sin, we deserve an eternity separated from God. But the good news is that Jesus has paid our penalty for us. We were in debt and had no way to pay the price, but Jesus paid it for us. This is the profound gift that God has given us. While we were still sinners, Jesus died for us to give us life. This fact should fill us not only with relief but also gratitude. If we’ve accepted Jesus as the Lord of our lives, then it should impact everything we do. The thankfulness and relief from being forgiven for our sins should motivate us to pursue Him and His will for our life more and more.]]>
