Philippians 2:3-5 When I was a kid, I was pretty hard on my mom and dad. They split when I was five, and I didn’t know then how hard that must have been for both of them. I would get frustrated with them because things didn’t happen the way I wanted or when I wanted them to happen. I would get mad at my dad when he would be late to pick up my sister and I on the weekends. I would get upset with my mom when i couldn’t have the latest toy that I wanted. I had no clue that they were struggling. As I’ve gotten older and reflected on that time, I appreciate what they did do for me. It wasn’t perfect, but they did their best. We often get frustrated with people. They may let us down or make a mistake, and we are ready to write them off. We rarely take the time to consider what others are going through. While many of us can be judgemental with others, we often don’t want anyone to judge us because “nobody is perfect,” right? Jesus gave His life because none of us are perfect. To expect anyone to be perfect and to never let us down is foolish. We’re all human. We’re all imperfect people who Jesus loves and died for. The fact that we are all sinners and in need of God’s forgiveness should impact how we look at others. We can give them the same grace and mercy that God has for us. When you are tempted to look down on someone for being imperfect remember what God has done for your imperfect self. ]]>
