When the ark of the covenant was brought back from the Philistines, it ended up in the house of a man named Obed-Edom for twenty years. As David was establishing Jerusalem, he brought the ark to the city. There was a huge procession as the ark took it’s place in the City of David. In the midst of the celebration, David let himself go. He danced in the streets that the Bible says showed he loved God more than he loved his dignified reputation. Michal, David’s wife, watched him from a high window. She despised David because she thought that she, a princess herself, deserved a more dignified husband. Being fully sold out to God can cost us some dignity, and some around us may not like it. Take a few minutes today to talk to God and answer the question, “Do you love me more than you care about how you look or what others might think of you?” as if God Himself was asking you the question.
